How to use Billing
Billing is the quick way to make bills and take money, at a counter or on a phone. You do not keep a second set of books: when you save, Smart Books makes the entry and works out the GST, and items and stock come from Inventory.

Get started: answer five quick questions
Tell Billing what kind of business you run, and it shows only the screens you need.
Add and find your customers and suppliers
Your customers and suppliers live in Smart Books. Billing shows them in Parties with what each one owes.
Check your items, prices and stock
See every item you can bill, with its rate, HSN code and how much is in stock.
Daily work
The jobs you do every day or every week.
Make a sales bill with GST
Pick the customer, add items by search or barcode, take payment if they pay now, and save — Smart Books adds the GST.
Print, download or share a bill
Give your customer their invoice — printed, as a PDF, or on WhatsApp or email.
Generate an e-Invoice and e-Way Bill
From a saved bill, generate the e-Invoice, the e-Way Bill, or both in one go.
Record money you received from a customer
Note a payment, match it to the customer’s open bills, and attach proof if you have it.
Record a purchase bill or an expense
Enter what you bought from a supplier, or a day-to-day expense, and how you paid for it.
Give a credit note for a return or price change
When a customer returns goods or a price was wrong, reduce what they owe with a credit note.
Deposit cash, withdraw cash or move money between banks
Record the money you move between your till and your bank accounts.
Follow up on money customers owe you
See every unpaid bill by how overdue it is, draft a reminder, and record the payment when it comes.
Work with your team
Bring in colleagues and your accountant.
