Notes, checklists and working memos — the half-formed thought as much as the finished record — with notebooks, tags and saved searches to keep them findable.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Changes made offline sync when you reconnect, and if the same note changed in two places you are asked which version to keep rather than one being dropped silently.

Is Notes the place for documents?

No. Documents and files belong in Drive, which handles versions, sharing and retention. Notes is for writing, not for filing.
