Who this is for

Owners who want to know where the business stands, and accountants preparing statements.

Before you start

  • Entries for the period posted in Smart Books.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Start at the Dashboard

The Dashboard (Alt+H) shows your key figures. Switch between the sales, purchase and inventory views, or open AI Insights for an AI-written report on your figures.

  2. Step 2: Open a report

Open Reports (Alt+R). Financial Statements has the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Trading Account and Trial Balance; Ledgers & Books has the Day Book, Account Ledger and Bill by Bill.

  3. Step 3: Change the period

Reports show the current financial year by default. Use the period bar at the top to pick a month, quarter or your own dates.

  4. Step 4: Look up a single entry

Open Registers to list every sale, purchase or payment, or the Day Book for everything on one day. Open any line to see the full entry.

  5. Step 5: Export or print

Export a report as PDF, Excel or CSV to share it with your accountant or bank.

What happens next

You know your profit, what you own and owe, and can find any entry in seconds — and you have a file to share when someone asks.

Questions

Why does a report look empty?

Reports include posted entries only. Drafts and entries waiting for approval are not counted until they are posted.

Can I see stock reports here?

Yes — Reports → Cost & Inventory has the inventory summary, stock item ledger and stock valuation.
