Inventory

Make finished goods from raw material

Set up a bill of materials once, then record production so components go out and finished goods come in.

  • Daily work
  • 4 steps

Before you start

Who this is for

Manufacturers and businesses that assemble kits.

Before you start

  • The finished item and all its components added as items.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Write the recipe

Open Masters → Bill of materials and add one: the finished item, and the components and quantities it takes.

  2. Step 2: Record production

When you make a batch, open Documents → New document and choose Production.

  3. Step 3: Pick the bill of materials and quantity

Choose the bill of materials and how many you made. Inventory works out the components used.

  4. Step 4: Post

    Choose Save & post.

Tip: For simple kits, Assembly and Disassembly do the same job in one step.

What happens next

Components go down, finished goods go up, and the cost of what you made is worked out from the components.

Questions

I send material to a job worker. Is that covered?
