Add a new financial year
Open next year — or add an earlier one — so you can make entries for it in every app.

Owners and accountants at the start of a new year, or bringing in older years.

- The company selected in the Company Workspace bar.
Steps

Step 1: Open Financial Years
Choose Financial Years in the side menu.

Step 2: Add the year
Choose New FY for the next year, or Prior FY for an earlier one.

Step 3: Check the dates and method
Check the Start Date, End Date and Default Valuation Method, and save.
What happens next
The new year can be picked at the top of every app. In Smart Books, carry last year’s balances forward with Year-End Carry Forward.
Questions
It says I cannot create the next financial year yet.
The next year opens for creation from 1 January before it starts — for example, the year starting April 2027 can be added from 1 January 2027. The message tells you the date.
