Release Notes for AICOUNTLY Smart Books Version 2.1

23 Oct 2026

This release adds new GST and TDS tools, a sales debit note, more control over how vouchers look, and many accuracy and usability improvements.

New

  • Sales debit note voucher, which also appears in dashboards and in GSTR-1 under Enter debit note.
  • Quarterly GSTR-1 filing JSON for quarterly filers.
  • GST input tax credit reconciliation based on GSTR-2B, with decisions that are kept when you refresh and bulk decisions.
  • A GSTR-9 draft that fills its tables from your books, and GSTR-4 annual figures table by table.
  • Composition returns calculate the composition tax from turnover by the dealer's category.
  • A Screen layout option for voucher screens, including a compact voucher header and more room for lines.
  • Delete an unposted draft voucher from the editor and from the drafts list.
  • Bill by Bill now includes a 'Show pending' option alongside 'Show settled', a WhatsApp payment reminder, and displays the party's net balance next to the pending total.
  • Import contract notes from any broker as a Journal with item, from the PDF.
  • TDS suggestions for the nature of payment on expense ledgers, which you can set in one go.
  • Raise a journal against a pending bill from Bill by Bill.
  • A Ratio Analysis switch on the user's profile.

Improved

  • Vouchers ask before an unsaved entry is lost through refresh, Back, the sidebar or the company switcher.
  • A line priced inclusive of GST now posts exactly at its total, and printed grand totals are correct to the paisa.
  • The Round button works on a new company.
  • E-invoices and e-way bills carry the invoice's round-off and other charges.
  • Excel exports use Indian lakh and crore digit grouping, and GST PDFs name the company and GSTIN and count pages.
  • Reverse-charge GST is split by place of supply.
  • A sales return puts goods back into Stock-in-Hand and takes their cost out of the cost of goods sold.
  • The Balance Sheet shows one stock figure, and long balance sheets now render to the end.
  • Dashboards count each overdue bill once and show figures that are withheld as Restricted instead of 0.
  • Long printed narration and notes now wrap properly, and layouts fit better at 1280 pixels.
  • Clearer messages when a voucher cannot be saved, when a connection to the GST portal needs access, and when AI Pulse is unavailable.
  • AI import keeps your CSV when the AI answer is slightly broken, and handles large text PDFs.

Fixed

  • A typed voucher number can no longer be used twice.
  • A party's opening balance now follows its rounded bills to within a paisa.
  • Cancelling an invoice that still has a posted credit or debit note is refused, and so is a credit or debit note linked to a cancelled invoice.
  • Freight added to the cost of stock is debited to Stock-in-Hand instead of being treated as an expense.
  • Purchases from composition suppliers no longer carry GST.
  • The GST portal OTP step reads the session of the GSTIN the OTP was sent for.
