Before you start

Before you start

The Replenishment dashboard in Inventory helps you spot items that are running low and decide how much to buy. It only shows items that have reached their reorder point, which is the stock level at which you have chosen to order more. You need permission to view the Replenishment report to see it.

Nothing is ordered from this screen. It works out a suggested quantity and, if you wish, opens a draft document for you to check and save.

Open the dashboard and set the scope

  1. Open the Inventory dashboards and choose the Replenishment view. Its title is Replenishment planning.
  2. Pick the warehouse and the "as of" date at the top if you want to look at one location or a particular day.
  3. Use Cover horizon to choose 7, 14 or 30 days. This is how many days beyond the supplier's lead time you want the new stock to last.

Read the summary cards

  • Below reorder point: how many item and location combinations are at or below their reorder level.
  • Stockout risk: among the rows shown, those with no available stock or less than the reorder point.
  • Suggested value and Open requests: the other two summary figures.

Look at one item in detail

The list called Replenishment recommendations shows items at or below their reorder point, with the largest suggestion first. The most urgent item is selected for you. The Demand and stock cover chart shows how much of it has been going out, and how long your stock will last.

The Suggested action panel shows the numbers behind the advice:

  • Available: stock you can actually use, after reservations, holds and damaged goods are taken off.
  • Confirmed inbound: quantity you are already expecting on open documents.
  • Daily demand: the average quantity going out each day.
  • Lead time: how many days new stock takes to arrive. It shows "Not set" if the item has none.
  • Safety stock: an extra cushion. If none is set, it is treated as zero.
  • Stock cover: how many days your stock will last at the current rate of use.

The Demand-based suggestion adds up the demand over the lead time and horizon, adds the safety stock, and subtracts what you have and expect. It also shows the figure from the report's own policy for comparison, and the two can differ.

Review the calculation and draft a receipt

  1. Select Review calculation.
  2. Check the table of inputs and the Suggested quantity.
  3. If you want a different amount, type it in Quantity to raise. Leave it blank to use the suggestion.
  4. Select Draft a receipt. A new document opens with the item and quantity filled in. Check it and save it yourself.

If you do not see Draft a receipt, you do not have permission to raise a receipt in this company. Send the figures to someone who does.

If something looks empty

"Nothing needs replenishing" means no item is at or below its reorder point. If the chart says there is not enough history, the app does not draw a projection rather than guessing.
