What a packing list does to your stock
When you post a packing list, the goods on it are held back from available stock until they are sold or unpacked. You can also lock a list to reserve it for a sale you are keying in, so nobody else uses it. This article shows how to find your packing lists and lock, unlock or unpack one.
Before you start
- The packing list must already be posted. Lists that are not posted show not posted in the Packing column and have no lock or unpack options.
- Your profile needs permission to edit or reverse packing lists. If the options are missing, ask your company owner.
Find a packing list
- Open Packing lists from the menu, under Open positions.
- Type in the search box to look for a number, consignee or lock reference.
- Use Any packing state to show only Open, Locked, Consumed, Unpacked or Not posted lists.
- Narrow the list further with the From date, To date and warehouse filters. Select Reset to clear them.
Each row shows the date, number, consignee, document status, packing status, number of lines, base quantity and who locked it. Select a row to open the full document.
Lock a packing list
Lock an Open list to keep it for a sale being keyed.
- On the list's row, open the More actions menu.
- Select Lock.
- Optionally type a Sale / draft reference, so others can see what the list is held for.
- Select Confirm.
A message confirms that the list is locked, and the row's packing status changes to Locked.
Unlock a packing list
- Open the More actions menu on a Locked row and select Unlock.
- Optionally add a reference.
- Tick Force unlock even if another sale holds it only if you are sure another sale should not keep it.
- Select Confirm.
Unpack a packing list
Unpack an Open list when the goods will not go out after all. Packed goods go back to available stock, and the list stays posted so the history is kept.
- Open the More actions menu and select Unpack.
- Optionally type a Reason.
- Select Confirm.
