What is the difference between a credit note and a debit note?
A credit note is issued by a seller to reduce the amount a buyer owes, for example for goods returned, a discount given later or an invoice raised for too much.
A debit note is issued to increase the amount payable, for example when the original invoice was for too little, or by a buyer to return goods to a supplier and ask for a credit.
