A notebook is a place where you file notes. A smart folder is a saved search: you set rules, and the folder lists every note that matches them at that moment. A note can show up in several smart folders, or in none, depending on whether it matches.
To make one, click New smart folder under Smart folders in the sidebar and add your rules. You can keep up to 50 smart folders.
