Open the Credit note action in Aicountly Billing and fill in the details:

  1. Pick the customer, then the original invoice the note is against.
  2. Choose a Reason, such as "Goods came back" or "Goods were damaged or short". A reason is required.
  3. Keep the option Goods came back selected, add the items and quantities that returned, and set each item's condition (Good, Damaged, Opened or Scrap).
  4. Add optional remarks and issue the note.

The credit note number is allotted when the note is issued, on your company's own series in Smart Books. For goods that come back, Inventory adds the items back to stock when the note is issued. Items marked Damaged or Scrap can go only into a damaged-stock or quarantine warehouse, so they are not counted as stock for sale.
